Service Description

The 1.5hr Beginner Pottery Workshop is an in depth beginner pottery workshop. In the class you will learn the 3 basic shapes on the wheel. Flatware, bowls and Cylinders (Mugs). The class is a more serious approach to jumping on the wheel with a step by step guide through all the shapes so no one gets left behind, things are taken slowly to make the experience as relaxing and fun as possible. Where?: 5 Friesan st, cowaramup How much?: $49.99 per person or $29.99 for recurring casual students (NOTE: Information For Recurring casual students at the bottom of the page. please read thoroughly before booking this option.) How long?: 2:00pm - 3:30 pm Saturdays and Sundays Average class runtime varies from 1hr 15mins to 1hr 45mins depending on number of participants. for this reason it's specially important for larger groups of participants to arrive on time. What do you get: 1.5hr learning experience where you can learn the basics on the pottery wheel. You will learn the 3 basic forms: : Flatware (plate) : Bowls : Cylinders (mugs) You will only be doing wheel work during this workshop, the wedging clay, trimming, attaching handles, bisque firing, waxing and glazing will all be done by Jacob after the workshop is completed. This process takes roughly 10 weeks to complete and costs an additional $25 per pot for Jacob to finish (the price of a small espresso cup) Minimum of 2 people need to book, for class to go ahead. If I cannot get at least two people for that specific class, I will offer you a refund or reschedule option. CASUAL RECURRING STUDENTS* - You will be required to BYO clay or purchase from Jacob on the day. - You can come 30 mins earlier to prepare clay for the class. - The class will be running as usual, Focusing on the 3 main pottery shapes and going through the basics in detail. However Jacob will be able to assist you with other projects in-between helping students. - Jacob offers to finish your pots for you, for a fee of $25 per pot. If you want to finish your own work you will be required to manage your own pots drying, as well as the finishing off process (trimming and glazing) - For those who have experience with glazing independently you may glaze your pots throughout the class (given the glazing area is available and you have experience with glazing. Cancellation Policy

Jacobs classes tend to book out regularly, There is limited availability especially for those with large groups and people tend to book weeks/months in advance. There is also only 6 spots in Jacobs classes, and taking up a spot can result in the potential loss of another booking. For this reason: CANCELLATION REQUESTS: Cancellations are non refundable. You can pass your booking onto friends if you cannot make it. RESCHEDULE REQUESTS: Reschedule requests due to the potential loss of a larger group booking are also non refundable. however Jacob can offer a gift card priced at the same value of the initial booking, if that booking is rescheduled. eg: Michael books a class for 4 people, total cost is $200 If Michael lets me know about his need to reschedule (doesn't do a no show on the day) and books into another class for 4 people at another date, He will receive his initial $200 cost refunded In the form of a gift card to use in the shop. This can be used to finish his pots on the day or to purchase Jacobs pottery from his showroom. All reschedule (new bookings) must be made within 1 month and must be of the same value as the initial booking. SHORT COURSE NOTE: At least two people are required for the daily classes to go ahead, if I cannot obtain at least two people you will receive the option to reschedule your booking or you'll receive a refund NOTES: At least three people are required for the multi week classes to go ahead, if I cannot obtain at least three people you will receive the option to reschedule your booking or you'll receive a refund You can only reschedule your bookings once, a second attempt to reschedule will result in a 100% cancellation fee. (unless a medical emergency see to cancellation policy above for details) In rare event of a double booking a refund will be offered, Jacob does not hold liability for system errors and mistakes. LESSON POTS: The finishing process of pottery is filled with the unexpected and unknown, While small defects are common and generally do not affect the pottery, Larger defects are rare. And in the case of larger defects occurring in the finishing process of your pottery a complimentary pot will be offered in replacement to your lesson pot. This will be of the same shape/form or colour. In these situations of extreme defects it is not recommended to use your pottery for food, and to use it for decorative uses/ non food use only. (Not the case for 7 week course students unless kiln malfunction)
