Handmade Pottery With a Purpose

Nestled right in the middle of the Margaret River Region, Jacobs studio in Cowaramup is where his work is made. Being only minutes from the turquoise waters of the Indian Ocean, and having breathtaking scenery on his doorstep, Its not hard to see where Jacob draws his inspiration from. Jacob always knew he would become an artist yet he never envisioned becoming a potter. Growing up in small coastal town north of Perth, The West Australian coastline has always shaped Jacobs life. Jacob Graduated school in 2016 and did further studies in Photography and Visual Arts. After having a crack at nearly every Art form known to man, It was Ceramics he chose to pursue as his primary passion. It didn't take long after playing with some clay, Jacob spent every day in the studio trying to improve his skills, Whenever he has a spare moment it was on the wheel. Upon finishing his studies in 2020 Jacob Moved down to Margaret River getting an apprenticeship in Dunsborough. Jacob spent the next 2 - 3 years refining his craft and learning critical throwing skills, as well as teaching skills. After learning the foundations, the opportunity for self expression became available and over the next 2 years Jacob Developed a range of his own signature work. Jacobs work is inspired by his love for the ocean, and the land here in the South West, as well as the big and the small details in the vast landscapes. You can see these elements in Jacobs work from the flowy waves in the form of his work, to the glazes which represent the white sandy beaches of Meelup, to the lush green forest of Boranup. Buying a piece of Jacobs work isn't just a piece of pottery, it is a piece of the South West. In 2024 Jacob moved into his first proper studio space which is a shared artist space in Cowaramup, WA. read more about this below.
